Helen Rintoul

Helen Marie Rintoul, 84, passed away the morning of May 23, 2016 at her daughter's home.

Born in Wood River on September 2, 1931, she was the ninth and last child of John H. and Amelia (Byron) Mize.

She had been employed as a secretary for the Olin Corporation for 35 years before retiring in 1990.

Helen enjoyed playing "Bridge", reading, doing puzzles and listening to all music. She was a great cook and loved feeding her family. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandson.

Her marriage to Franklin E. Rintoul took place on October 2, 1954 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Wood River.  He preceded her in death on October 26, 1980.

Surviving are a daughter, Tracy (Dave) McEuen of Bethalto; two sons, Greg (Gina) Rintoul of Hartford, Dave Rintoul of Reno, NV; three grandchildren, Jessica McEuen (Marq Quiller), Kyle McEuen, Andrew Rintoul; great grandson, Abram Ray Quiller; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; four brothers and four sisters and their spouses, John and Sue Mize, Joe and Helen Mize, Leo and Isabella Mize, William Mize (in infancy), Edna and Leo Geison, Marguerite and Ray Batty, Bernadine and Joe Crane and Lucille Mize (in infancy).

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.

Funeral and Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens Chapel in Bethalto.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association or American Heart Association.
