Hazel Maxine Crause, 86, formerly of Bethalto, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at Hospice of Cincinnati, Ohio. She was born July 19, 1926, in Greenville, Illinois, daughter of the late Willard and Pearl (Finke) McKean. She married George Edwin Crause on January 20, 1946, in Wood River, who preceded her in death in March of 1992. Survivors include one daughter and son in law: Barb and Ed Bower; two grandchildren, Jacob Bower, and Jessica McNeel and her husband, Nathan all of Cincinnati; one sister: Lorene Janes of Bethalto, and one brother, Charles McKean of Worden. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother: Don McKean.
Maxine loved animals, children, and especially her grandchildren. She made the best pies, potato salad and noodles east of the Mississippi River. She was active at her church in Centerville, Ohio.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be 10 A.M. CT until time of funeral services at 11:30 A. M. on Saturday, June 29, 2013, all at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Pastor Charles West will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. A memorial service will also be held at the Centerville Community Church in Centerville, OH on Monday, July 1 at 4:00 P.M. ET
