Hazel Marie Laughlin, 95, of Alton, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Alton Memorial Hospital Hospice Care.
Born on August 8, 1929, in Alton, she married Eugene E. Laughlin on May 23, 1953. He preceded her in death on January 9, 2019.
Hazel retired from Olin Corp. after more than 30 years of service. During her career, she enjoyed bowling and participated in numerous leagues with her husband. She was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. Hazel was a long-time member of Sanford Avenue Baptist Church in Alton.
She is survived by her brother-in-law, Paul (Lynn) Laughlin, and her step-sister-in-law, Bessie Richards, both of Alton; a daughter, Gail (Jeff) Gray of Alton; two sons, Robert (Theresa) Laughlin of Alton, and David Laughlin of Alton; grandchildren Ryan Gray, Katie Gray, and Robert John Laughlin all of Alton; and Dillan (Kacey) Laughlin of Arkansas.
She also leaves behind great-grandchildren, Zoey Medlock of Alton, and Codie and Kasen Laughlin of Arkansas. Along with her husband, Hazel is preceded in death by her brother, Robert Shroepfer of Washington, MO; her sister-in-law, Lorrain Derby of Bethalto; and her brother-in-law, Gerald "Buzzy" Laughlin of Alton.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 9, 2024 at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Pastor Dan Bowers will officiate.
