Hayden F. “Whitey” Green, 84, died at 3:48 a.m. Friday, September 6, 2024 at Highland Healthcare in Highland, IL. Born February 10, 1940 in Middlesboro, KY, he was the son of Charles and Sarah (Peace) Green. Mr. Green served in the U.S. Army and retired as a Master Machinist for Laclede Steel in Alton. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Alton and loved to fish and hunt. On November 23, 1962 he married the former Victoria Ann Smith in Erwin, NC. She preceded him in death on April 24, 2014. Surviving is a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Esther Green of Worden, four grandchildren, Jana McDonald (Joe) of Godfrey, Jeni Flanagan of Alton, Jami Garcia of Alton, and Sean Foster (Diana) of Union, MO, 10 great grandchildren, Josh, Madison, Jordyn, Karson, Ava, Bre’Anna, Robert, Cooper, Lailah, and Jaydin, and three great-great grandchildren, Carter, Kairi, and Zara. He is also survived by three half-sisters. Along with his parents, and wife, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Patty Flanagan and Teri Tennyson, a grandson, Jason Hogan, and numerous brothers and sisters. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Calvary Baptist Church in Alton. Reverend Andre’ Dobson will officiate.
