Harvey A. Simpson, passed away at 7:50 a.m. Monday, January 11, 2016 at Christian Hospital Northeast in St. Louis.
Born Aug. 11, 1942 in Kampsville, Ill., he was a son of George and Dorothy (Barnes) Simpson.
He married Kay A. Smith March 18, 1961 in Alton. She passed away Nov. 22, 2006.
Harvey was owner and operator of Simpson’s Auto Service, retiring Dec. 24, 1992. He loved auto racing, gardening, hunting and fishing and playing cards, but his greatest joy was spending time with his grandkids.
Survivors include a daughter, Sherri (Jarrod) Piar of East Alton; grandchildren, Gracie Cronovich, Kaylee Ann Piar; a step-granddaughter, Olivia Cronovich; two sisters, Verna Strowmatt of Cottage Hills and Carol Bloodworth of Wood River; a brother, Archie (Carol) Simpson of Columbia, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Simpson of East Alton; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Terri Simpson and Katherine Simpson; a granddaughter, Kelsey Jean Piar; a sister, Ida Mae Davis; and a brother, Thomas Simpson.
Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 14 at Paynic Home for Funerals from 9 a.m. until services begin at 12 p.m. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at Summit Grove Cemetery in Kampsville.
