Harry W. Renken, age 92, of Glen Carbon formerly of Worden, Illinois died at 9:10 a.m. Friday, December 11, 2015, at Eden Village Care Center. Harry was a retired farmer and worked at Hamel Co-op Grain Company in Hamel for 50 years. He was born July 22, 1923, in Hamel the son of the late John F. & Martha L. (Blase) Renken. He married Flora Lee Engelke on June 8, 1946, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hamel. Besides his wife he is survived by 2 sons, Scott Renken of Lake Forest, Illinois and Seth Renken & wife Pamela of Edwardsville, 1 daughter, Kristine Stipcak & husband Jerry of Cumming, Georgia; 9 grandchildren, Dana & Jeremy Stipcak, Jessica Prats, Lauren & Warren Renken, Richard, Steven, Peter & Charles Renken; 6 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Arnold Renken & wife Gerry of Alton; and 2 sisters, Lillian Schmidt of Alton and Verna Klenke & husband Hilbert of Glen Carbon. He was preceded in death by 1 grandson, Joshua Renken. Harry was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Marines in the Pacific Theatre in World War II. He was a member of the American Legion in Worden. He served on numerous committees in Hamel. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, December 14, 2015, at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home. Services will be at 12 noon Tuesday, December 12, 2015 at the funeral home with Fr. Jeff Goeckner officiating. Interment will be at Prairietown Cemetery.
