Harold Carroll

Harold William "Buddy" Carroll, 78, died at 9:45 p.m., Sunday, April 3, 2011 at the home of his daughter, surrounded by his family, while under the care of BJC Hospice.He was born in Medora on March 15, 1933, the son of the late Charles & Elsie (Wilson) Carroll. He grew up in Medora, and graduated from Medora High School, where he participated on the school sports teams, and acquire the nickname "Buddy". He was employed for many years as a truck driver with the Alton Box Board, and after retirement enjoyed assisting his son, Amrel , at Carroll's Auto Body in Alton.He married  Janice Jones on June 9, 1964 in Alton, and she survives. Also surviving are three children & their spouses, Amrel & Tammy Carroll of Meadowbrook, Helen Brockman of Alton, Juanita & Steve Long of Jerseyville; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a sister, Alice Houseman of Brighton.He was preceded in death by his parents, twin infant daughters, Janice & Janet Carroll; a sister, Helen Carroll; and two brothers, Kenneth Carroll and Sheridan Carroll.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Friday.  Father William Hembrow will officiate.Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.In lieu of flowers and plants, the family would appreciate memorials be given to the family to assist in the placement of a monument at the cemetery.
