Harold W. Nation, 81, died at 2:05 a.m. Friday, August 20, 2010 at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born May 18, 1929 in Alton, he was the son of Harold O. and Addie Mae (Gauf) Nation.
He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the VFW Post 1308 and the American Legion. On March 14, 1974 in Alton, he married Susan L. Walsh.
Also surviving are two daughters, Barbara Jane and Karen and three sons, Harold W. Nation Jr., Mark A. Nation and Scott A. Nation, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a sister, Helen and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Monday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton followed by graveside services at 1:00 p.m. at Upper Alton Cemetery. Military rites will be given by the VFW Post 1308. Memorials may be made to the VFW Post 1308 or the American Legion.
