Harold G. Friemann, 85, passed away at 7:11am on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at Alton Memorial Hospital. He was born on October 7, 1925, in Coulterville, Illinois the son of the late George W. and Francis (Neuhaus) Friemann. He married the former Wilma Lee Ragsdale on November 2, 1946, in Wood River and she preceded him in death on August 27, 2004. Survivors include one son: Greg Friemann of Godfrey, six grandchildren and their spouses: Shawn and Stacy Hert, Trisha and Eric Clevenger, Jennifer Friemann, Layla Friemann, Chelsie and Jason Householder, and Emmylou and Uriah Cole, thirteen great - grandchildren, two sisters and a brother in law: Velma Rice of Belleville, Illinois, JoAnn and Kenny Day of Indiana, a sister in law: Patricia Friemann of Alton, a son in law: Jack Hert of Wood River, and several nieces and nephews.
He was employed at Standard Oil for over 35 years as an air and water inspector prior to his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the Wood River Moose Lodge #1349. He was a member of the Standard Torch Club in Fosterburg. He wintered in McAllen, Texas for 30 winters. He formerly attended Whitelaw Avenue Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army - Air Corp.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters: Pamela E. Friemann, Georgia Kaye Hert, one son: Danny R. Friemann, three brothers: Homer, Stanley, Dwight, and an infant brother: Eugene.
In celebration of this life, visitation will be from 5pm to 7pm on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Pitchford Funeral Home and will continue from 10am until time of funeral services at 11am on Friday, October 7, 2011 at the funeral home. Pastor Dan Smith will officiate. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
