Harold G. Beets, 88, died at 10:46 a.m. Monday, June 6, 2016 at his home. Born November 21, 1927 in Alton, he was the son of Guy C. and Pearl (Mackey) Beets. Mr. Beets served in the U.S. Army and was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey. In 1993 he retired from the Alton Box Board as a truck driver. He loved traveling and camping and was a member of Teamsters Local 525. On November 30, 2002 he married the former Patricia (Baer) Kramer in Godfrey. She survives. Surviving children are, Jane Rowden of Godfrey, Angela Jenkins of Murphysboro, IL, Paul Matthews of San Diego, CA, Chris Kramer of St. Charles, MO, Mary Kramer of Kirkwood, MO, Kathy Smith of Town and Country, MO, Sam Kramer of Barrington, IL, Susan Piazza of Godfrey, and Molly Kramer of Portland, Oregon, 16 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two wives, Billie and Lucy Beets, a son, James Beets, two brothers, William and Guy Beets, and a sister, Charlotte Rhoads. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of memorial Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2016 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey. Father Steve Pohlman will officiate.
