Harold F. Korte Sr., 83, died at 11:51 p.m. Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born November 21, 1934 in Alton, he was the son of Dwight and Adele (Pieper) Korte. Mr. Korte graduated from Marquette Catholic High School and served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey and retired from ECC Supply in Brentwood, MO. On July 29, 1980 he married the former Margaret (Rolla) Dixon in Godfrey. She survives. Along with his wife he is survived by eight children, Missy (Rick) Gibson of Godfrey, David (Laura) Dixon of Godfrey, Suzanne (Rob) Schwartz of Godfrey, Jim Korte of St. Charles, MO, Carol Korte of Dallas, TX, Paul Korte of St. Peters, MO, Harold Korte Jr. of Godfrey, and Nancy (Chris) Bruce of Godfrey. Also surviving are two daughters-in-law, Elizabeth Korte of Maryville, IL, and Kathy Korte of Winchester, IL, 18 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and two brothers, Tom (Mary) Korte of Brighton and Larry (Carolyn) Korte of Lake Ozark, MO. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Delores Korte, two sons, Brad and Edward Korte and a brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Irene Korte. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:45 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 29, 2018 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey. Father Steven Janoski will officiate. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic School or Marquette Catholic High School.
