Harold E. Johnson, 85, passed away at 4:00 am, Tuesday November 8, 2011 at his home, with his family by his side.
He was born in Alton IL on October 18, 1926 the son of the late William E. and Liller (Russel) Johnson.
On May 29, 1949, he married Dorothy Jean Farmer in Alton IL. She survives.
He proudly served his country during WWII in the US Navy. He was a member of the East Alton American Legion Post 794 as well as the Piasa Masonic Lodge.
In addition to his wife, Harold is survived by three daughters and their spouses, Dianne Elario of Beverly MA; Chris and Dennis Sharp of Godfrey, and Annette and Rob Milazzo of Bethalto; one son and his wife, Rick and Sharon Johnson of Pasadena MD; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild; and one sister, Ruby Boyd of Godfrey.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Marvin Johnson; and one sister, Carrie Mae Hayes.
Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded.
Burial will be private.
