H. Ruth Kozonasky, 82, died at 12:02 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton.
She was born December 20, 1930 in Eldred, IL the daughter of the late Curtis and Francis (Green) Coonrod. She was a member of the Godfrey Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran.
On December 3, 1949 in Fort Dix, NJ she married John M. Kozonasky and he survives.
In addition to her husband John, she is survived by four children; John (Claudia) Kozonasky, Susan (Weston) Cole, Marcia Kozonasky and Mary Kozonasky, eight grandchildren; Jackie (Michael) Ridgley, David (Jason) Turner-Cole, Amy (Andy) Deardeuff, Melissa Kozonasky, John Kozonasky, Tara Kozonasky, Eryn Dean, Andrew Cole and two step-grandchildren; Brian Stahlschmidt and Chad (Amber) Stahlschmidt, thirteen great grandchildren, one sister; Lou Case and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by Curtis L. Coonrod (brother) and Eileen Cole (sister).
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 pm on Monday, April 15, 2013 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday.
Rev. Dr. Glen Greenwood will officiate with burial at Oakwood Cemetery in Greenfield with full Military honors.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or The American Cancer Society.
