Gregg M. Liedtke, age 69, of Bethalto, IL, passed away at 4:02 am on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He was born January 14, 1953, in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Dale D. Liedtke and Edith M. Liedtke.
He married Lana (Reed) Liedtke on November 14, 2003 and were together 19 years. He married Rose DeFranco on January 16, 1982. She passed away on August 17, 1996. They had three children together Jennifer, Michael, and Brian Liedtke.
Survivors include his wife, Lana Liedtke of Bethalto, IL; brother Steve Liedtke and Russell Lewis of San Diego, CA; sister-in-Law Marianne DeFranco; children, Jennifer (Kevin) Marshall, Michael (Amanda) Liedtke, and Brian Liedtke; stepchildren Kim (Rob) Neathery and Andy (Wilmari) Hamilton; grandchildren Trenton and Hayden Liedtke, Roselyn and Calvin Marshall, Annelise and Rhett Neathery, Nyah and Noah Hamilton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and Rose (DeFranco) Liedtke.
Gregg was a graduate of Casey Westfield High School in Casey, Illinois. A graduate from the College of Nursing at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. He later received his Master’s in Science of Nursing at McKendree University. He worked at Christian Northeast Hospital in St. Louis for over 40 years as a Registered Nurse and later Clinical Nursing Director before retirement.
Gregg really enjoyed leadership and development and was very appreciative of his teams at Christian Northeast Hospital. He was very faithful and attended St. Paul United Methodist Church in Rosewood Heights. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working out at leisure world, traveling, dining out with his wife and family, and anything related to the University of Nebraska Athletics, specifically Cornhuskers Football. He greatly enjoyed coaching his children sporting events and attending his grandchildren school and sporting activities. He was very thankful and appreciate of all the friends that he made throughout his life.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023, from 4 pm to 7 pm at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, Illinois. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 10 am, with burial following at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and Pedal the Cause.
