Grace M. Elwell, age 82, passed away at 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2011, at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.
She was born on June 8, 1928 in Alton the daughter of Luke and S. Rose (Dipiazzo) Malone.
She married Jack K. Elwell, April 15, 1950 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton and he passed away in 1986.
She received her formal education from St. Mary’s Catholic School and Marquette Catholic High School and graduated from St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Professional Nurse.
She is survived by two sisters Laura Romano of St. Louis, Sister Timothy Marie Malone of Alton, sister in law Mary Malone of Wood River and a very special friend Jeannette Silveus of Alton in addition to numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Scott Edward Elwell and two brothers, Joseph Malone and Tony Malone, Sr.

Memorial Visitation will be Wednesday May 25, 2011 from 10 to 11 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Elias Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton with Fr. Nnamdi Moneme O.M.V. officiating.
Burial will follow at Upper Alton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or St. Anthony’s Hospice.
