Grace Kaye Dwiggins, 71, passed away at 4:50 a.m. Monday, October 24, 2011 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 25, 1940 in Alton, she was the daughter of Harold S. and Freda (Graham) Dwiggins.
She loved working with kids and did it throughout her life. She worked for the Mooseheart Orphanage as a House Parent, and also for the Dept. of Children and Family Services as a case aid assistant and for the First Baptist Church of Wood River as their Christian Education Director. She also loved to send encouraging cards to families and the many children she loved so much.
She is survived by a brother, Rick “Ricky” (Carol) Dwiggins of Wood River; a sister-in-law, Patricia Dwiggins of Godfrey; several nieces and nephews, Kathryne, Jessie, Joel, Jerry, and Jody Dwiggins; and great nieces and a great nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Gerald James and Nelson Otto Dwiggins; and a nephew, Mitchell Dwiggins.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 27 at Crosspoint Baptist Church, 4539 Wanda Road in South Roxana. Rev. Richard Clouse will officiate.
Burial will follow at Upper Alton Cemetery in Alton.
