Gloria Schrumpf

Gloria June Schrumpf, 92, passed away at 5:11 a.m. Friday, August 9, 2024 at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born October 20, 1931 in Nokomis, IL, she was the daughter of Matthew and Marie (Prammer) Kausic. After graduating from St. John's College of Nursing in Springfield, IL, she married Roy E. Schrumpf and moved to Wood River, IL. Her nursing career spanned 45 years, including as a surgical nurse at St. Joseph Hospital, office manager for doctors Moore, Lynn and Donnelly, staff nurse at both St. Anthony's Hospital and the Visiting Nurse Association, and the director of nursing at the senior care facility at Christian Northeast. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Marion Andrews, Rudy Raymond, and Helen Krisciunas. Surviving is a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Julie Schrumpf of Godfrey, and daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Stephen Menke of Hayward, WI, grandchildren Erica Moginot (Robert), Theresa Alexander (Christopher), Andrew Schrumpf, Kate McFeaters (Rob), and Matthew Menke (Julie) and 11 great grandchildren Gabrial White, Ben and Will Moginot, Benjamin, William, and Charlotte Alexander, RJ and Grace McFeaters, and Beth, Sam, and Will Menke. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Kris Krisciunas. While her first love was caring for family and friends, she also was a member of the Godfrey Women's Club and an active member of St. Mary's Church. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian burial at 12 p.m. noon Saturday, August 24, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Alton. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
