Glenna M. Franklin, 82, died at 9:24 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2013 at St. Anthony’s Hospital. Born January 1, 1931 in Alton, she was the daughter of the late Glenn Smith and Jessie (Osborn) Smith Dooley, and her step father, Lloyd Dooley of Alton. She was a secretary for Rockford Blue-Cross/Blue Shield in downtown Alton. She married Larry Franklin. He preceded her in death. Surviving are two daughters, Kay Varble (Jerry) of Brighton, and Janet Brown (Rick) of Godfrey, two sons, Terry Smith of Godfrey, and Larry Smith of Godfrey, six grandchildren, Tracy, Mark, Steven, Ricky, Brandy, and Jennifer, one great granddaughter, Katlyn, and one sister, Bernice Dawson of Rockbridge, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Garry Smith, a brother, Ronnie Dooley, and her longtime companion, Henry Schumann. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2013. Reverend Steve Rice will officiate.
