Glen (Dale) Greer, 72, passed away at 1:02 a.m. on Sunday, October 5, 2009 at his residence.

He was born on February 22, 1937 in Alton, IL, son of the late Eli and Ila (Page) Greer.

He met and married Betty (Ochsner) on September 6, 1958 in Las Vegas. They were married for 51 years.

Dale went into the marines and served his country from 1954 until 1961. He was employed at McDonnel Douglas for 27 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Alton VFW post 1308, he loved his silver smith and stone work, wood carving and wood work in general. He was a big fan of all kinds of sports, but most of all he loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren

He is survived by his wife Betty; two son's and daughter-in-law, Craig & Jamie Greer of Godfrey and Gary Greer of Godfrey; one daughter and son-in-law, Patty & Kelly Johnson of Alton; nine grandchildren, Jake VanAllman and wife Molly, Dustin Greer, Krystal VanAllman, Melissa Kuehnel and husband Greg, Lauren Greer, Kyle, Kristen, J.J. and Andrew Johnson; four great grandchildren, Rae Leigh Beyers, Gregory Kuehnel, Max Coggins and Colton Kuehnel; one brother, James Greer and wife Isabell of Cal; sister-in-law, Leona Greer of Overland Park, KS and lots of nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Clyde Kenneth Greer.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm on Thursday, October 8, 2009, at Elias Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL

Funeral service will be at 10 am, on Friday, October 9, 2009, at the Abundant Life Christian Center in Godfrey, IL with Pastor Sam Henning officiating.

Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park with full military rites by the Alton VFW Post 1308.

Memorials may be made to Abundant Life Christian Center.
