Glanna E. Brice
Alton | Saturday, December 12 2015
The hearts of the late Reverend Raymond P. and Alice Floyd were filled with joy when they first laid eyes on their beautiful daughter, Glanna Elaine (Floyd) Brice. Mom was born on July 10, 1960 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was the eldest of their six children.
Momma graduated from Terre Haute South Vigo High School in 1978 where she served as a member of the Junior ROTC and attended Indiana State University. Due to her father’s ministry, the family has roots in various states across the Midwest, but Momma eventually moved and settled in Alton, Illinois as a young woman. She met Michael E. Brice, Sr. at Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church in Alton, Illinois and they were united in Holy Matrimony on April 16, 1994.
Momma was a valued employee of the Catholic Children’s Home in Alton, Illinois for over twenty years.
Momma was a soldier for the Lord and accepted Christ at an early age. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Trinity A.M.E. Church in Alton, Illinois. Momma wore many “hats” while serving the Lord; often blessing many congregations and communities across the nation with her angelic singing voice. She served as the Director of the Young People’s Division for many years, and she served numerous terms as President of the Sarah Allen Women’s Missionary Society, President of the Usher Board, and Pastor’s Steward to several Pastors. Momma was a member of the usher and steward boards, Eastern Star, and the church choir. She possessed an altruistic spirit and was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her loving and nurturing spirit touched many and her quick wit entertained all who crossed her path.
Momma’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was an awesome wife, mother, and “granny”. She enjoyed spending her time, talents, and tokens with them. She loved doting over and spoiling her husband, children, and grandchildren.
Momma, a dedicated and committed servant of Christ, entered into eternal rest on December 12, 2015. She ran a strong race, fought a good fight, and ultimately crossed the finish line and received her wings of Glory.
Momma leaves to cherish her love and precious memories her beloved husband, Michael E. Brice, Sr., three loving children, Glana “Ran-Dee” Randle and Michael E. Brice, Junior both of Alton, and Rayna (Edward) Wiley of Marks, Mississippi; three grandchildren that loved her very dearly, Divine Thomas, Daija Merrifield, and Daegan Thompson all of Alton; four brothers and one sister, Mia Floyd of Cary, North Carolina; Jon Floyd of Alton, David Floyd and Kevin Floyd both of Phoenix, Arizona, and the late Reverend Gary Floyd, with whom she shared a special bond; a special daughter, Emprise Hubbard, several nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will convene Friday, December 18, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Trinity A.M.E. Church. Visitation will resume Saturday, December 19, 2015 from 9:00 until time of service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Upper Alton Cemetery.
