Gladys Sauerwein

Gladys Rose (Smith) Sauerwein, 85, of Bethalto, IL, died at Evelyn's House, Creve Coeur, MO on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 3:17 pm.  She was born July 4, 1937, in Bunker Hill Twp, IL to Robert James Smith & Gladys Lillian (Moore) Smith.  She was a homemaker.  She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church.  Gladys enjoyed spending time with her family, camping, fishing, playing pinochle and playing free cell.  She also enjoyed genealogy, puzzles and crocheting.  She is survived by her daughter, Carla (Jeff) Sauerwein of Alton, IL, son, Edward (Diane) Sauerwein of Sedgwick, KS, grandchildren, Joshua (Jamie) Mills of Belle Plaine, KS, Jared (Erin) Mills of Jerseyville, IL, Marsha (Eugene) Crane of Wichita, KS, Rebecca (Joe) Taylor of Sedgwick, KS, Melissa Ashby of Wichita, KS, great grandchildren, Dakota (Audrey) Crane, Morgan Teeple, Landon Sauerwein, Jacob Mills, Preston Crane, Wyatt Deneau, Arabella Taylor, Jeremiah Mills, Marek Taylor, Andrew Mills, Julia Mills, Jonathan Mills, brother, Glenn (Mary) Smith of Bunker Hill, IL, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.  Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, former spouse, Marvin Sauerwein, grandson, Isaac Gould, brothers, Charles Smith, James Smith, Norman Smith, sisters, Lillie Mae King and Betty Smith.  Friends may call on Friday, March 10, 2023 at Kravanya Funeral Home in Bunker Hill from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Kravanya Funeral Home in Bunker Hill from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.  Funeral services are Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 11:00 am at Kravanya Funeral Home, Bunker Hill, IL.  Burial will be at Bunker Hill Cemetery, Bunker Hill, IL.  Memorials are suggested to Zion Lutheran Church of Bunker Hill.  Anyone wishing to send an online condolence may do so at www.kravanyafuneral.com.
