Geraldine Kaye "Gerry" Scoggins, 68, died Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Saint Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.She was born at home in Dow on July 22, 1943 the daughter of the late Joseph & Josephine (Tucker) Heitzman.  She was raised in Dow, and as a young girl, enjoyed her duties babysitting her younger siblings.  She graduated in 1961 from Jersey Community High School, and soon married Robert E. Scoggins on July 7, 1962 at the home of his parents in Jerseyville.They were residents of Jerseyville for the majority of those years, with the exception of their time in Kane, where they operated the grocery store from 1976-1981, as well as one in Delhi for three years from 1982-1985.Surviving are her husband, Robert Scoggins of Jerseyville; three sons & daughters in law, Michael Scoggins of Kane, Jeffrey & Sherry Scoggins of Mexico, Mo., and Paul "PJ" & Deidra Scoggins of Kane;  six grandchildren, Ashley Scoggins, Jeffrey Scoggins Jr., Bradly Shaw, Jonthon Shaw, Kelsie Scoggins and Josie Scoggins; three great grandchildren and one on the way; four sisters and brothers in law, Betty Farrell of Alton and Frances Lawliss of Dever, Co., Joanne & Melvin Dunham of Jerseyville, Carol & Howard Grady of Grafton, and Earl Sledd of Kentucky; and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother & sister in law, Joseph & Maggie Heitzman; a sister, Rosemary Sledd; a and brother in law, Kenny Farrell.Family & Friends are invited to a Celebration of her life will be conducted at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Jerseyville American Legion.Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville is in charge of the arrangements
