Geraldine June Smith, 76 passed away at 1:45 pm Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at the Rosewood Care Center in Alton.
She was born on October 25, 1934 in Alton, IL, the daughter of the late Glen and Irene (Ledbetter) Colley.
She was employed at the Illinois State Mental Hospital in Alton as a social worker for over 25 years. She was a charter member of the Alliance for mentally ill, volunteered at the Oasis center, and a life time member for animal rights activist and AFSCME.
She is survived by a brother and his spouse; Don and Barb Colley of Maggie Valley, NC, and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sons; Michael Smith and Scott Smith, and a sister; Jean Tarrant.
Per her wishes cremation rites will be accorded.
