Gerald Lynn Ussery, 69, died at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, May 27, 2012 at his residence.He was born in Carrollton on Oct. 19, 1942, and was the son of the late Lloyd & Mildred (Bechdoldt) Ussery.Jerry was a 1960 graduate of Jersey Community High School,and was U.S. Navy veteran. He was employed as a carpenter for the majority of his life. He enjoyed spoiling his grandkids, anything to do with the outdoors, especially fishing, but was most content later in life just spending time at his cabin in Batchtown, with his dog, Half Pint, and his Ford pick up.Surviving are his two sons & a daughter in law, Shane & Tonya Ussery of Medora, and Eric Ussery of Nutwood; three grandchildren, Dominique, Alyssa & Jobe.He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, George Ussery & Dale Ussery; and two sisters, Lois Detwiler and Mary Lee Dilks.A memorial visitation will take place from 4 p.m. Thursday until time of memorial services at 6 p.m., at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.Inurnment will immediately follow at the Richwoods Cemetery in rural Carrollton with the Jerseyville American Legion Post 492 conducting military graveside rites.Memorials may be given to his family in care of the funeral home
