George Thomas Kraushaar Sr., 83, died at 7:30 p.m., Friday, September 21, 2012 at the Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis County, Mo.
He was born in Jersey County on Sept. 2, 1929, the last surviving of 13 children born to the late Charles & Virginia (Christen) Kraushaar Sr.
George was raised on the family farm, and farming never left his blood. He enjoyed anything outdoors whether it was working the ground, hunting, fishing or just enjoying nature. He was a machinist at Olin for many years retiring in 1991, but enjoyed farming more than anything.
He and his wife Martha were residents of White Hall for more than 45 years where they raised their family, but recently relocated to Jerseyivlle in 2007.
He married the former Martha Hamm in July of 1962 in Grafton, and together they have shared 50 years of marriage.
Surviving are his wife, Martha Kraushaar of Jerseyville; two daughters & sons in law, Billie Jo & Pat Parker of Alton, and Tammy & Steve Vuylsteke of St. Louis, Mo.; two grandchildren, Becca & Matt Parker; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and siblings, he was preceded in death by his two beloved children, a son, George Thomas Kraushaar Jr. in 1980; and a daughter, Diane Holloway in 1986.
Family & Friends are invited to attend at graveside service at 11 a.m., on Tuesday at the Fieldon Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Evans officiating.
Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association in care of Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, who has been entrusted with the services.
