George E. Skundrich, 92, passed away Friday, August 18, 2023 at Hitz Memorial Home in Alhambra.
Born September 12, 1930 in Alton, IL, he was the son of Michael and Mary (Raich) Skundrich.
A Korean War Army veteran, George was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Wood River.
In January of 1963 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Wood River, he married Josephine "Beba" Fuderick. She died October 22, 2017.
Surviving are nieces, Mary Ann Parrill, Leighanne (Bill) Reedy; nephews, Larry Kucinick, Ryan and Eric Parrill; brother-in-law, Louie Timar; and sisters-in-law, Marilyn Romani and Jeannie Krpan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; six brothers, Mike, John, Nick, Joe, Frank and Steve Skundrich; four sisters, Katie Carach, Frances Kucinick, Evelyn Oseland, Mary Skundrich; sister-in-law, Pat Timar, brother-in-law, Tommy Krpan; and nephew, Walt Parrill.
Visitation will be from 10 am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am, Tuesday, August 22 at Holy Angels Parish Church in Wood River.
Burial will follow in Woodland Hill Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or masses.
