George Hindmon

George Hindmon, 90, passed away at 6:30 pm, Saturday January 7, 2012 at Rosewood Care Center, with his family by his side.

He was born in Iuka, MS on February 18, 1921 the son of the late William and Ellen (Morris) Hindmon.

On December 5, 1941, he married Eva Walker in Benton, KY, she survives.

George served our country in the United States Army in Europe. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife, Eva; one son and his wife, Gene and Lois Hindmon, of Bethalto; one daughter and her husband, Sandy and Tony Stolze, of Alton; five grandchildren, Christine Chastain, Joy Sawyer, Shawn Stolze, Robyn Stolze, and Kim Stolze; ten great-grandchildren; and one brother Webster Hindmon.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one granddaughter Jean Marie Hindmon; and four sisters.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm on Monday January 9, 2012 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, IL.

Funeral service will be at 10 am Tuesday January 10. 2012 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home with Rev. Andre Dobson officiating. 

Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey, IL.

Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by Alton VFW Post 1308 Ritual Team.
