George Daniel Carter, 80, died at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at his home surrounded by his wife, two nephews, Jeff Tanney, Todd Tanney and his girlfriend, Kesia Sweet who was George’s caregiver.
Born February 22, 1944 in Alton, he was the son of James Franklin and Lillie Marie (Levi) Carter. He married Deborah Catherine Jones on May 25, 1988 in Forsyth, MO. She survives.
George retired from the City of Alton as a Housing and Zoning Inspector. Along with his wife he is survived by a brother, Paul Carter (Pat), and two nephews, Todd and Jeff Tanney.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, William, Harry, Sonny and Bobby and five sisters, Lillian, Edna, Vivian, Betty and Mary Lou.
