Gail Stucker

Bethalto |

Gail J. Stucker, 69, passed away at 7:35 pm on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at OSF St. Anthony's in Alton, IL with her family by her side.

She was born on April 27, 1955, the daughter of Lyndell “Dick” and Wilma M. (Frye) Fraser. On January 13, 1990, Gail married Richard E. Stucker and the two celebrated 34 years of marriage.

Gail dedicated much of her life to enriching the lives of others through her role as the Director of Community Life at Asbury Village in Godfrey. There, she lovingly engaged residents in a myriad of activities from crafts and cooking to ballgames and theater outings. She cared very deeply for the residents and staff of Asbury Village, and it showed in the quality of her work.

She was a charter member of Bethalto First Christian Church where she served for the majority of her life. Gail currently attended Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto where she was treated like family. She recently went on a mission trip to Belize with her OLQOP family where she had a profoundly positive experience.

Gail's love for nature was evident in her passions for camping, trout fishing, cultivating a vibrant garden, or simply spending time in the sunshine.

Gail was a tremendously talented musician and she was happy to share that talent where ever it was needed. Over the years she enjoyed playing the piano and singing for many groups, ceremonies, competitions, piano lessons, praise bands, choirs, ensembles, and for the pure joy that music gave her.

The majority of her musical talent was given to the church, as an expression of her faith, where she played the piano and sang from the age of 12 until the Sunday before her death.

She also joyfully gave every single one of her other talents to the church, which are far too numerous to name.

Gail had many jobs and careers over the years. With her strong work ethic, and her multi faceted skill set, she was a photography assistant, book keeper, receptionist, waitress, piano teacher, restaurant owner, medical transcriptionist, executive assistant, pie baker, shoe salesperson, and a floral designer. She worked many of these occupations 2 and 3 at a time to support her family.

Gail Stucker loved her family and friends unconditionally and almost to a fault at times. She wanted nothing more than to be a help and a support to those she loved. Much of what she did for others was behind the scenes.

She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Stucker of Alton, IL; children, Mitzi C. Fuguitt of Godfrey, IL, and Zachary I. (Mackenzie) Stucker of Wood River, IL; a stepson, Matthew Stucker of Arkansas; a sister, Kelly Strader of Phoenix, AZ; two grandchildren, Sophia and Olivia; beloved nieces and nephews, Amanda, Mark, and Jonathan; much loved grand-nephews, Grayson, Oliver, and Beckett; and several cousins and friends.

Gail was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Linda Fraser.

Visitation will be on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at the Elias Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, IL.

Services will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 11:00 am the funeral home with Pastor Pat Heston officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bethalto, IL.

Memorials may be made to Asbury Village Activities Department or Our Lady Queen of Peace.
