Freda Wright

Freda I. Wright, 95, died at 6:00 p.m. Friday, August 26, 2011 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.  Born February 14, 1916 in Godfrey, she was the daughter of Frank P. and Grace J. (Doty) Boker. 

She graduated from Brighton Community High School in 1934. Freda was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church and a member of the Altar Society.  She was also a member of the American Gold Star Mothers and the VFW Post 1308 Ladies Auxiliary and volunteered as a Pink Lady for St. Anthony’s Hospital.  On May 20, 1939 in Alton, she married Clyde T. Wright.  He preceded her in death on March 4, 2002. 

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Janet E. and Edward Jenkins of Alton, and Mary K. and Jonathan Curry of Alton,  four sons and two daughters-in-law, James R. Wright of Gillespie, Stephen E. and Patricia Wright of Springfield, IL, Larry W. and Doris Wright, Mokena, IL, and Roger D. Wright of Springfield, IL, 12 grandchildren and spouses, Russell and Jodi Wright, Sandra and John Scott, Lynn and Randall Cameron, Tony Jenkins, Theresa and Stan Cretin, Stephen K. and Krista Wright, Patrick Wright, Loreen and Raymond Brown, Colette and Eric Asmussen, Todd Curry, Samuel and Debra Curry, and Joel and Cindy Curry, 18 great grandchildren, one great-great grandson, two sisters, Frances Ray and her husband Marion of Bethalto and Geraldine Strong of Collinsville, and one sister-in-law, Irene Boker of Tampa, FL.  She was preceded in death by a son, killed in action in Vietnam, Kenneth M. Wright, three brothers, Calvin, Leonard, and Eugene Boker, one sister, Clara Boker and a daughter-in-law, Ann Wright. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 2, 2011 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church.  Father Jim Flach will officiate.  Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church or the Hospice of Southern Illinois.  Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge or arrangements.
