Franklin L. Ballard, 76, passed away at 9:25 a.m. Thursday, September 9, 2010 at his son’s home in Godfrey.
Born Nov. 11, 1933 in East Alton, he was a son of Vivan Ray and Bessie (Blaine) Ballard.
He married Frances D. Young June 11, 1954. She passed away in 1978.
A supervisor for Olin Brass, he retired in 1998 after 48 years.
He was a Madison County Election judge, a member of the International Assoc. of Machinists union Local 660, and was active with the Historical Homes tours of Alton.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Jacquee Ballard of Godfrey; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kathryn Etter and Laura and Harry Mobley, all of Alton; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lois and Dick Moore of Cuba, Ill. and Donna and Marvin Jones of Bunker Hill; a brother, Gary Ballard of East Alton; and a sister-in-law, Mildred Ballard of Rosewood Heights.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Ballard.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 13.
Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
