Frankie Lee Hersman, 62, passed away at 6:25 am Saturday August 6, 2011 at home with his family by his side.
He was born on September 8, 1948 in Alton, IL the son of Clyde & Hazel (West) Hersman.
He married Patsy Williams on May 1, 1980 in New Madrid, MO. She survives.
He worked as a self-employed roofer from many years and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Fan and loved music.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Hersman of Wood River; five sons and four daughters-in-law, Walt & Crystal Gleason of East Alton, Brian Gleason, James & Casey Gleason, Michael & Sheila Gleason, and William & Tera Gleason, all of Wood River; nineteen grandchildren, Izzy, Michael, Zachary, Gabriel, April, Paige, Wyatt, Traci, Tiffani, Cheyenne, William, Abigail, Annabelle, Cinda, Katelynn, Ashely, Christian, Kristin, and Caleb; one brother and sister-in-law, Darold & Karen Hersman of East Alton; and one half brother, Chester Powell.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry & Gene Hersman.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Monday August 8, 2011 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be held at 10 am Tuesday.
Burial will follow at Upper Alton Cemetery.
