Frank Clinton Goss, 86, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, Oct 31, 2013 at his home in Cape Coral, Florida.  Frank was born August 19, 1927 in Alton, Illinois, the son of Clyde & Myrtle [McGarvey] Goss. He graduated from Central Bible Institute in 1948, having been one of the first recipients to receive a scholarship to attend there. He then married Retha Louise Brandt on September 5, 1948 in Lincoln, Nebraska. The next Sunday they started their 45 years of pastoring 6 different Assembly of God churches located in the Midwest: Camp Point, Illinois; Peoria, Illinois; Branson, Missouri; Jerseyville, Illinois; Hammond, Indiana; and St Louis, Missouri.  Initially they retired to Springfield, Missouri, but later moved to Florida and were members of Faith Assembly of God in North Fort Myers, Florida. 

Two of his favorite scriptures were Philippians 4:13; “I can do all things through Him who gives me strength”, and Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to those who are called according to His purpose”. 

Frank is survived by his three children: Philip (Naomi) Goss, Pastor in North Fort Myers, Florida; Patricia (Alan) Pettenger, Missionaries to South Africa; Paul (Robin) Goss, Pastor in Olney, Illinois; his sister, Marjorie Hembree of Harlington, Texas; 10 grandchildren: Jason (Chase) Goss, Lucas Goss, Christy Henry, Nathan (Lee) Goss, Rachel (Steven) Porter, Jenny Pettenger, Stephen (Tori) Goss, Kelly (Todd) Drury, Kyle Goss, Kurt Goss; and 11 great- grand children; Samuel, Cassondra, Peyton, and Trinity Goss; Devin Pettenger, Skyler Henry; Grace, Jude, Lucy, and Andy Goss; and Isaiah Goss.  Frank was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Retha, and his parents. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of funeral service at 11:00 am Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a scholarship fund for students to attend the Durban Bible College in South Africa.
