Frances Kay Ewin, 72, died at 10:56 a.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Born February 20, 1938 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Alton, she was the daughter of Randford and Bertha (Foster) Seeger. She was a graduate of Southwestern High School, 1956. She married John E. Ewin on October 4, 1958 in Brighton. She received a Master of Science and Education with a major in Counselor Education from SIU-E in 1982. Frances worked as a Counselor in the Tri-County area for 10 years. She enjoyed taking care of her flowers, watching the humming birds in her garden, spoiling her family including her husband, daughters, grandchild, and many pets. She enjoyed small gatherings to play games and share in the fun and laughter with family and friends. She enjoyed playing the piano, listening to music and dancing.
Along with her husband, Frances is survived by two daughters, Kim Ewin of Godfrey and Denise Ewin of Alton, one grandson, Brian Ewin, a two sisters, Sandra Stauffer of Alton, and Veronica Greeling and her husband Donald of Brighton and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Marlene Erthal.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday.
Burial will be at Shipman Cemetery. Friends and family will be received at the Anchor of Hope Fellowship Church, 503 Milton Road, Alton, IL.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
