Frances Eunice (Stice) Eveans

Frances Eunice (Stice) Eveans, of Cottage Hills, passed away peacefully at 12:05 pm Thursday, April 28, 2011at Gasconade Manor in Owensville, Missouri, after a short illness. 

She was born on April 9, 1922 in Alton, Illinois, the daughter of the late Eddie and Eunice (Hancock) Laird. 

She married Millard (Shorty) W. Eveans on June 24, 1960 in Bethalto, IL. 

Frances attended Civic Memorial High School in Bethalto and during WWII went to work at Olin Corporation in East Alton, working in the analytical lab for 23 years.  She was a devoted, loving mother and grandmother and a longtime member of the Bethalto United Methodist Church. She enjoyed her pets, watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball, ladies and mixed league bowling, sewing, knitting, crocheting, reading, doing crossword puzzles, and babysitting many years to two precious young men now, Matt and Steven Stemmley. 

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Merry (Eveans) and Craig Thierry and their sons, Evan and Max of Belle, MO ; a stepson and his wife, Ronnie and Janet Eveans of Michael, Illinois; her grandchildren, Rocky Eveans, Belinda Eveans, Ricky Eveans, Jana Feeley and Rodney Eveans; twelve great grandchildren and eight great, great grandchildren.. 
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson, Randy Eveans and three great grandchildren. 

A memorial gathering will be held from 9:30 am until service at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Pastor John Tennyson officiating.

Inurnment will follow be Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bethalto United Methodist Church or the 5 A’s Animal Shelter in Alton.
