Floyd E. Ralston, 83, passed away at 3:38 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 26, 1926 in Lincoln, Ill., he was a son of Glenn and Hazel (Taylor) Ralston.
Floyd worked at and became owner and operator of Community Feed & Seed in East Alton, spending a total of 72 years there before he retired in 2009.
He married Betty H. Hardesty Nov. 16, 1963 in East Alton. She survives.
A World War II veteran of the Army, he was also a life member of East Alton American Legion Post #794.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Darrell Ralston and his companion Donna of Fieldon, Herb Ralston and his wife Kathy of Bunker Hill, Jeffrey Ralston of East Alton, Darren Ralston of Alton, and Sandra Naylor of Tulsa, Okla.; his stepchildren, Dana Grindstaff of Alton, Connie Emmons of East Alton, and Sherrie Grindstaff of Wood River; 8 grandchildren; 9 step grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Hubbard and her husband Merlin of Plainview, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dennis Ralston; a sister, Juanita Jackson; and a brother, Lowell Ralston.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, July 23 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, where Rev. Royce Roy will officiate services at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 24.
Interment will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto, with military honors by the East Alton American Legion.
