Fay Caroline Schweitzer, 91, died on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at her home in Godfrey. Born November 12, 1918 in Muscoda, WI, she was the daughter of Herman and Gertie (Swingle) Huppler. She earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Wisconsin (UW) in 1941.  She served in the Women’s Army Corps (WAC) during WWII.  On June 8, 1946 in Muscoda, WI, she married John David (“J.D.”) Schweitzer, who preceded her in death on April 25, 2000. Fay earned a Master of Library Sciences degree from UW and was a Librarian at Monticello College and later at Lewis and Clark Community College in Godfrey. Surviving is a daughter, Diane Schweitzer of Godfrey, and four sons: John Nicholas (and March) Schweitzer of Madison, WI, Dr. Erik S. (and Pat) Schweitzer of Topanga, CA, Christopher L. Schweitzer of Norfolk, VA, and Dr. Peter (and Isabelle) Schweitzer of Ithaca, New York; four grandchildren: Elizabeth, Catherine, Brendan and Emily Schweitzer; step grandchildren: Meredith and Chris Maller, and two brothers, John Huppler of Neenah, WI, and Robert Huppler of Beloit, WI.  Fay was very involved with Beverly Farm, where her daughter Diane has been a resident for many years. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton.  Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the First Unitarian Church of Alton.  Burial will be at Godfrey Cemetery with full military honors by the VFW Post 1308.  Memorials may be made to the Beverly Farm Foundation.Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
