Everett W. Haegele, 93 passed away at 4:28 pm on Sunday, September 5, 2010 at St. Anthony’s Health Care in Alton.
He was born August 29, 1917 in St. Louis, MO, the son of Arthur & Pearl (Green) Haegele.
He married Ethel Mundell on June 7, 1947 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Alton. She preceded him in death on February 28, 2008.
Everett served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army, serving with General Patton. He was a German prisoner of war and received The Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a salesman for the Auto Club of Missouri until his retirement in 1974. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton, the Alton VFW Post 1308, The NRA and the Alton Museum. He enjoyed traveling, dancing and Notre Dame Football.
He is survived by a sister, Agnes Jackson of CA and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, brothers, Arthur Haegele, Albert Haegele, Clarence Haegle, Frederick Haegele and his sisters, Loretta Haegele Metcalfe and Vern Timmermeir.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alto
