Evelyn “Ev” Powers

Evelyn “Ev” Powers, 71, passed away at 1:04 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in Saint Louis, MO. She was born May 31, 1940 in Raven Den, Arkansas the daughter of the late Anson and Era (Clements) Woolsey. In her early years she worked for Block’s Restaurant in Alton. She retired from the packing department with the Winchester Division of Olin Corp. after 33 years of service. She loved spending time with her family and animals and she loved to travel and go camping. On November 8, 1975 in Alton she married Tom Powers and he survives. Also surviving are on daughter; Renee Blair and her husband Daniel Sr. of Jerseyville. Two sons; Ronald Weissenfluh and his wife Kellie of Jerseyville and Paul Weissenfluh and his wife Lydia of Wood River, one brother; Luther Teat and his wife Violet of Huntsville, Alabama and three sisters; Esther Zagar and her husband Frank of Alabaster, Alabama and Edith Clark of Potlatch, Idaho, Wilma “Kiddo” Dilks and her husband Leo of Wood River, 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by one son; Ricky Weissenfluh and her In-laws; Ed and Virginia Powers, and a brother-in-law; Paul Clark. Visitation will be Thursday, April 4, 2012 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at GENT Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. In lieu of flowers: Memorials may be made to the Alton 5A’s Animal Hospital.
