Evelyn Lois Atkins, 94, of Edwardsville Illinois, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025 at Liberty Village in Maryville, Illinois.
She was born in Brighton, Illinois on July 11, 1930, the daughter of Kenneth and Clara (Winsel) Strohbeck.
Evelyn worked at Emerson Electric as a word processing operator until her retirement. She was a member of Holiday Shores Baptist Church, the JOY (Just Older Youth) group, and enjoyed attending bible studies. She loved watching television game shows, doing word search puzzles and working jigsaw puzzles, and was always ready to play a card or table game. Through the years, she enjoyed flower arranging, basket weaving, bird watching and baking cookies.
She was blessed to be a great aunt, and a great great aunt, and will be missed so much by all of her family and friends.
What she loved most was spending time with her family, as they were her pride and joy.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa (husband Ralph) Keune of Edwardsville; a brother, Orville Strohbeck of Warrenton, MO; a sister, Clara Eaton of Dardenne Prairie, MO; a step-sister, Jan Crider of St. Louis, MO; and grandchildren, Aaron (wife Kaitlin) Keune, and Anna Keune.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, a step-mother Avis Strohbeck, and two step-brothers, Robert "Bob" Johnson, and Jerry Johnson.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 9:30 am until time of service at 12 pm, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Pastor Robert Lemon will officiate.
Burial will follow at Woodburn Cemetery.
