Ethel Mae Wilke, nee Wiesen, 92, of Belleville, IL, born December 9, 1932, in Belleville, IL, died Friday, March 7, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Wilke adored her family. She was a wonderful homemaker who raised her children. Later, Ethel worked at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital as a CNA. She loved playing games, such as dice and bingo, at home with her loved ones. Ethel also enjoyed the Opera, her trips to Las Vegas, and shopping. She will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wesley Wilke; a son, Robert Wilke; her parents, John L. and Lillian, nee Land, Wiesen; a brother, John H. (Judy) Wiesen; and a granddaughter-in-law, Debra Benavidez.
Surviving are five children, Linda (Fred Jr.) Bertelsman, Cheryl Benavidez, Kathy (William) Ridenour, Michael Wilke (Margie Wheat) and David Wilke; five grandchildren, Jason Benavidez, Joshua Benavidez, Timothy Ridenour, Tobe Licker, and Sarah Wilke (Brian Roberson); 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a nephew.

As a final act of kindness, Ethel gifted her body to science.
