Esther Ruth Rinkel, age 87, of Edwardsville, IL, passed from this world into her eternal rest on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. Esther was born on December 29, 1936, in St. Louis, MO, a daughter of the late George and Lillie (Ebert) Meyer.
Esther was a proud social worker and homemaker who loved taking care of her family and serving her community. She was a member of Troy Methodist Church in Troy, IL. Esther was an avid collector of many things. She enjoyed playing tennis, bowling, square dancing, and round dancing. She was also a firm believer in education, and she never stopped learning. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend to many. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Esther was preceded in death by her siblings, Priscilla Meyer, Aquilla Meyer, David Meyer, Daniel Meyer and Victor Meyer.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Stephanie Rinkel of Springfield, IL, Christine (Greg) Neddenriep of Libertyville, IL, and Dianne (Adam) Hazel of Adamsville, AL; proud grandmother to Magdelynn Neddenriep and Caroline Hazel; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In celebration of her life, a memorial visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at Irwin Chapel, Glen Carbon, IL. The memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, with Pastor Adam Hazel officiating.
Memorial donations may be given to Troy Methodist Church. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
