Erwin D. Snyders, age 83, of Alton, Illinois died Thursday January 10, 2013 at Windham Hospital in Willimantic, CT.
He was born November 24, 1929 in Batchtown, IL the son of Albert G. & Dora O. (Twitchell) Snyders.
He married Charlotte JoAnn Essex on October 17, 1949 at St. Mary's Church in Alton where they were long-time members. She preceded him in death on May 8, 2005. \
He worked at Laclede Steel Company as an electrician for more than 40 years and was a member of the Alton Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed gardening and all types of social interactions with friends and coworkers.
He will be remembered as a loving and devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to many.
He is survived and will be greatly missed by: two daughters & sons in law, Lynda Dian and Bill Zehnder of Shreve, OH, and Sandra JoAnn and Joe Tobin of Coventry, CT.; three grandchildren and spouses: James B. and Anna Ackman of Middletown, CT. Nathan D. and Angela Ackman of Coventry, CT. JoAnn Courtney Tobin of Coventry, CT, two great grandsons: Roland T. Ackman of Coventry, CT. and Lukas T. Ackman of Middletown, CT., a sister-in-law and brother in law: Paula and Bruce Malone of Alton, numerous nieces, nephews, a special niece and caregiver: Barbara Bauser, and other extended family and many dear friends
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by: two daughters: Mary Ann Snyders and Patricia Kathryn Snyders, four brothers: Homer, Cyril, Kenneth, and Wilburn Snyders; and three sisters: Marguerite Siemer, Eva Reddish and Rita Imming.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Staten-Fine Funeral Home, 220 Court Street, Alton, IL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10 am Thursday, January 17, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 4th and Henry Street in Alton.
Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Alton.
