Elvis L. Tarrant, 89, passed away at 9:35 pm on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at his home after a short illness with his family by his side.
He was born on December 7, 1923 in Omaha, IL, the son of Edward and Anna (Utley) Tarrant.
He married Betty L. Nichols on March 15, 1947 in Alton, IL. She survives.
Elvis served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II for 3 ½ years. He was owner/operator of Tarrant Real Estate in Godfrey for 53 years. Then was an associate for Tarrant and Harman Real Estate until his death. He was an active member of Cornerstone Assembly of God Church in Bethalto, a member of the Alton VFW Post 1308 and other VFWs in the area and Greater Gateway Association of Realtors. His greatest joy was his daughters and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Russ Nieters of Godfrey and Tracey and Vern Wallace of Jerseyville; three grandchildren, Jeremy and his wife, Amanda Yates, Ashley Yates and Brooke Wallace and one great grandchild, Kaylie Yates.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Pam Sandberg, eight brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Cornerstone Assembly of God Church in Bethalto.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Friday, May 31, 2013 with Pastor Erik Scotberg officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to the funeral home in care of the family.
