Elva “Al” Bradstreet, 81, passed away at 2:25 p.m. Thursday, November 3, 2011 at his home.
Born Dec. 10, 1929 in Shamrock, Tex., he was a son of Floyd and Flois (Traylor) Bradstreet.
He loved airplanes and flying, and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1948-1952. A maintenance superintendent with Shell Oil, he worked at the Roxana refinery for 35 years and another 7 years were spent for Shell in Saudi Arabia.
He married Madeline E. Tappy Oct. 24, 1952 in Wood River. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Ronda Bradstreet of Highland and Gary and Jackie Bradstreet of Edwardsville; grandchildren, Melissa (Chad) La Croix, Sheila Bradstreet, Sarah Knight, and Amy and Tara Bradstreet; great grandchildren, Gavin and Dylan Lutz, Wyatt Knight, and Audrey and Aiden La Croix; and three sisters, Joyce Wadley of Paso Robles, Calif., and Carol Bradstreet and Shirley Smith, both of Galt, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Jo Bradstreet; and two brothers, Don and Weldon Bradstreet.
Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7.
Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto with military honors by the Ritual Team of Alton VFW Post #1308.
Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, BJC Hospice, or the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
