Ellen Lois Tedrick (nee Shultz) age 89, of rural Smithboro, Illinois passed away peacefully at her home with her family at her bedside on Sunday June 15, 2025
Graveside service will be held at 11:00am, Friday, June 20th, at Noffsinger Cemetery. The family welcomes all to join them at the cemetery. There will be a celebration of life gathering following burial at the Smithboro town hall. In lieu of flowers, plants, and gifts please make memorials to the Tedrick family c/o 1311 Gun Club Rd., Smithboro, Illinois 62284. Donnell - Wiegand Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Ellen was born January 16, 1936, in Smithboro on the family farm. She began her education at the Mahle School before attending and graduating from Mulberry Grove High School where she met her future husband.
On January 26,1953 Ellen married Melvin Arthur Tedrick at Woburn Baptist Church.
Ellen and Melvin were blessed with 4 children, Donald Thomas of Ky (deceased), James Matthew (Brenda) of Greenville, IL, Scott Rollin of Fairview Heights, IL, and Dawn Ellen Edwards (Aaron Terrell) of Vandalia, IL as well as 10+ grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
One of 7 children, Ellen is survived by a sister, Judy Koontz of Smithboro, and a brother Robert Shultz of Greenville. She is preceded in death by an infant brother Thomas G.J. Shultz, and sisters Betty Rainey, Jane Ellsworth and Patsy Goodin.
Ellen and Melvin enjoyed 72 years of marriage. They moved to Warsaw, Ky. in 1979. Ellen worked many years at Senco staple and Nail Company. After retirement they moved to Florida and eventually back to Illinois to be near family.
Ellen was an avid reader and very artistic and creative. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, sewing, quilting, painting and even writing poetry.
