Elizabeth R. (Barnes) Williams, 94, of Edwardsville, Illinois, formerly of Granite City Il., born April 17, 1926, in Madison Il, died Wednesday, January 27, 2021.
Betty or “Aunt Betty” enjoyed serving patients for 30+ years as a dental assistant in the Granite City area. Betty loved spending time with family and friends whether it was listening to music, enjoying a good meal, or partaking in some retail therapy. She possessed an infectious zest for life and love of interacting with people. She didn’t meet a stranger and if she did, they didn’t stay one.
Betty loved her nieces and nephews and was loved and adored by them. Aunt Betty will be remembered for her witty guidance and mirth.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Floyd “Red” Williams on August 20, 2018; her parents, Henry Hamilton and Julia, nee Veeseart, Barnes; brother Albert “Barney” Barnes; sisters, Ethel Bridges and Dianna Scherrills; and niece Shirley Guffey.
Surviving are her sister, Mary (Ed) Turner of Carbondale, Il; nieces, Phyllis Barnes of Orange, Ca., Dr. Rochelle (Darren Paschedag) Henderson of Edwardsville Il., Patricia (David) Tozier of Tucson, Az., and nephews, Terry L. Barnes (Kennedy, Landon, and Logan) of Clarkson Valley, Mo., Scott (Sharon) Williams of Marietta Ga., Robert Williams of Charleston, SC.
A celebration of life will be held at a later time.
