Elizabeth Louise Guthrie (Betty Lou) Hansel, 79 passed away on Friday, August 27, 2010, at her residence in Leesburg, FL.
She was born on December 6, 1930 in Alton, IL to Donald and Mildred (Lively) Guthrie .
Elizabeth married Walter Max Hansel in Leesburg, FL. He survives.
Elizabeth has been a resident of Leesburg since 1993. She was a 1948 graduate of Alton High School. She retired from her work in human resources at Christian Hospital Health Systems in 1989. She was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed reading, cooking and traveling.
She is survived by two daughters; Sarah Hansel (Mike Cooke) of Tulsa, OK, and Suzanne Bode (Scott) of Freetown, Sierra Leone, West Africa; and two step-daughters; Valerie Light (Rick) of Tucson, AZ, and Vickie Barber (Greg) of Sherman, TX, two grandchildren; Patrick M. Bode4, and Erin H. Bode, and three step-grandchild; Rochelle Riley (Roger), and Heather Biehunko (Matt) and Lauren Cooke.
Service will be at 1 pm, Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home, in Alton, IL. Michael Thompson, CS is officiating.
Burial will follow at the Upper Alton Cemetery, Alton, IL.
