Elizabeth June Stumpe, 88, died at 3:15 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011 at her home. Born June 21, 1922 in Louisiana, MO, she was the daughter of Joseph M. and Mary C. (Davis) Madison. She had been a member of the former Curdie Heights Baptist Church in Alton. On March 13, 1962 in Wood River, she married Patrick H. Stumpe. He preceded her in death on April 26, 1997. Surviving is a daughter, Catherine Macnally of Florence, AZ, three sons, Larry Jennings of Florida, Robert Jennings of Alton, and Rodger Jennings, Alton, one step-son, Robert H. Stumpe of Scottsdale, AZ, one step-daughter, Peggy Batson of Alton, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, and two brothers, Robert Madison of Alton, and Hardin Madison of Louisiana, MO. She was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Stephens. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Pastor Mary Lawrence will officiate.
