Elizabeth Jane (Hand) Baker went to be with her angels at 2:00 am on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Barnes Jewish Hospital after a lengthy illness.
She was born July 21, 1944 in Alton, IL. She was the daughter of Donald E. Hand and Emma Marie Peterson (Hand) of Alton. On April 10, 1992 she married Wayne Baker who survives.
Jane retired from Olin Corp in 2004 as a shell inspector after 30 years of service.
Surviving are a sister, Carol Williams (Kenny) of Alton, IL; three brothers, James H. Hand and Donald R. Hand both of Wood River, IL, and Allen “Mickey” and Rena Hand of Madera, CA; and many nieces and nephews and two step-children.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and two sisters, Linda Madison and Melody (Hand) Myers.
Jane enjoyed collecting angels, planting flowers, swimming, and visiting her cousins, Penny J. Bodine and her family; plus, the Losches family of Alton.
Per her wishes cremation rites will be accorded by Elias Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Memorials can be made to the Humane Society and/or the Hope Community Center.
A memorial service will be held later this spring or early summer.
